British Masters Championships

A report from our chair Jess Cole on the Masters Championships at the weekend.

Well what a weekend for E.A.S.T swimmers competing in Aberdeen. It started with some successful fuelling of some fried Mars Bars and Ice Cream. What a medal haul by our swimmers: 1,500m Sue Nick Brian 200m back Sally , Nick 50m fly Paul 4x200m Adam, Josie, Brian, Sue Sally 100 breast, and 200 IM Brian Gold 400 IM. Sally Silver Paul bronze 100 Back. Pat Swimming for Islay &Jura but have 3 golds 50 fly, 200IM &400 I M but we will claim these as well. Our founder Jane Asher (now aged 95) swam 200 Free today in a time of 4 minutes 42 seconds. Nick got a silver and Sue a gold in the 800m free. Sally silver 200 Breaststroke In the final session at Aberdeen a silver for Nick in the 400 free and a bronze for Sally in the 50 back Debbie Matless swimming for Co Norwich won 2 gold (50 free and 50 fly) and 2 silver, breaking her own East Region 50 free record. Cath swam for Team Anglia, gold in 200 back and bronze in 100 back Nick won silver in 50 free. Jane Asher swam the 400 m and I hear it was a world record. Again I have only mentioned medals we mustn’t forget all the other hard & fantastic swims that have been performed over the last two days – well done to everyone who swum. Really Fantastic results.
